CF Dude Splash Screen for Eclipse

Taking some inspiration from Ray Camden, I decided that I wanted to tweak some of the visual aspects of Eclipse.

See, I have ColdFusion Builder installed as a plug-in, rather than the stand alone version. As a result, I don't get the cool icons or splash screen, but I wanted to change that. I was able to find where Eclipse keeps the 'splash screen' image and I created my own - here is how you can too.

  1. Shut down Eclipse or CF Builder.
  2. Save the image below to your computer.

(Isn't that just an awesome picture? Ray and I literally spent minutes on it)
  3. Search your Eclipse or CF Builder directory for a file named 'splash.bmp'.
  4. Rename this file to something like 'splash_old.bmp'.
  5. Copy the image you saved in step 2 to the directory where 'splash.bmp' was found.
  6. Start Eclipse or CF Builder.
  7. Enjoy!

I should note that I did find a configuration file that could be edited to tell Eclipse what file to use, but rather than totally messing up my set up, I figured it would be easier to just rename the files.

Shouldn't that read "because PHP and .NET suck and make you feel so dirty that you have to scrub your body with steel wool to feel clean again"?

@marcel - it probably could, but the words would then be so small that they might be unreadable.

Though I found the post humorous... I found the sillly comentary on the image text annoying and thought I'd point out, from the point of view of a 'CF Dinosaur', that PHP most certainly does NOT suck. I like it. I use it. When it fits, so should other people. I'd like to point out that the same holds true for CF, and I'd say the same thing about CF on a PHP blog post that declares 'CF Sucks'. I like it. I use it.
It's all about picking the right tool... sometimes CF wins and sometimes it loses. Either way, you get paid... and isn't that what we're really here for?

PHP does indeed suck. It's a fact and not up for debate.
