Great Resource for Kids

Something I am not sure I have discussed here before is the fact that my wife and I home school our children (ages 8 & 4).  Unlike a lot of other families who home school, our reasons are not faith based.  When my oldest son started kindergarten, we had many issues with the teachers, which went unresolved even after numerous meetings with the teachers and principal.

One thing we have struggles with is finding good resources to use as an adjunct to the curriculum we use for teaching.  A while ago, we discovered Cosmeo, a website run by The Discovery Channel.  Cosmeo is a fantastic resource for helping kids learn.  Our kids love watching the videos, which are very well done, and do a wonderful job of explaining what we have found to be difficult topics.

Cosmeo is not free, but at $99/year, we consider it a steal.

We did a game for PreventCancer.org. It's in conjunction with the the University of Maryland, their Public Health department and nutritionists.

The game teaches kids 8 - 13 to choose their meals and exercise well. There is alot of information, sections for teachers and parents, and it allows children to build their own meals and have them evaluated in a fun environment. There are also sections on choosing good exercise and making good health decisions.

It's at:

That's good to know that there are still people who have big hearts for this kind of charitable acts...Instead of consuming wealth for some unnecessary things like tons of jewels, cars and shiny home furniture- http://www.fixturesandfurnitures.com/ , it is but wise to spend money in charity, for it will give a satisfaction and contentment that no amount of money can buy...
Thanks for the post.It's great!
