Find out what I'm doing, Follow Me :)

Only time will tell.

For those who live under a rock, or use this site as a source for real information (God help you if you fit into the latter), Adobe has announced plans to acquire Macromedia.

What does this mean for my favorite Macromedia products (I admit it , I like Dreamweaver)?  Who knows, but I think it is safe to assume Fireworks and Freehand have seen their last releases (I think you could say the sme for GoLive).  Is this a bad thing?  Again, who knows, only time will tell.

Does this mean all the cool server-side technologies (CF, Flex, Flash Communication Server) from MM are dead?  I doubt it. Maybe teh server-side stuff was a driving force for this deal...who knows.

They way I see it, Macromedia has vision, but not a whole lot of cash.  Adobe has the cash, but have pretty much maxed out their share of the market.  The merger of these 2 companies could be the best thing that could happen to either of them, or it could be a disaster.  Only time will tell.

While I wasn't in the tech industry at the time, but I am sure there are a few people who thought Macromedia acquiring Allaire was a bad thing.  I'm no expert, but it seems to me, that turned out OK.

Mike Chambers makes soem good point in this blog entry.

In the meantime, let's try and come up with a name for the newly merged companies (Yes, I know it will most likely stay Adobe, but don't spoil my warped sense of fun).

How about Adomedia? or Macrobe? (ech, that sounds like the name fo a really bad science fiction movie)

Funny you suggest almost the same name I had in mind: Adobedia ( http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?goto=ne... ) but as the FAQ states, it will be plain boring Adobe blabla..
Who knows what the future holds..
