For anyone who even has a role in designing a site's layout, even if it is a tertiary role, this book is a must read. The book devotes a lot of time discussing a 'common sense approach to web usability'. However, as we prove time and time again, common sense isn't all that common.

Basically if the interface creates too much of a learning curve or too different between how other web applications work.
Then people are not gonna use this great web app/site you've created and you just wasted time and money.
So be careful in your use of special javascript, css or dhtml and make it too unusual and too hard for customers to use.
Think about it.
PS. whats your backround Scott? (sorry, i didnt read the post, so this is quite irrelevent post to the topic, as you can see, just the most recent)
